JOB POSITION : EQUINE INTERNSHIP AT BOSDREEF EQUINE REFERRAL HOSPITAL
Equine Hospital De Bosdreef, an equine referral centre situated in Belgium is pleased to offer 5 rotating internships in equine medicine, diagnostic imaging, orthopedics and surgery.
The case load in our hospital consists of approximately 900 general anaesthetic surgical procedures, more than 2500 orthopaedic examinations, 1000 internal medicine cases, 500 MRI examinations, 250 CT scans and 260 gamma-scintigraphy scans per year.
The hospital is a new purpose built modern facility with 2 surgery theaters, an ICU unit, a large diagnostic imaging unit (including sMRI, CT, scintigraphy, DR radiography and several ultrasound devices), Qualisys motion analysis, covered arena and trot up lines, 6 examination rooms and 52 indoor stables.
Interns are enrolled in an official government approved programme and are fully insured. Intern accommodation comprises of individual on site large and fully equipped rooms with en suite bathroom.
All applicants must be DVM or have obtained an equivalent degree in Veterinary Medicine. Preference may be given to individuals with equine experience or credentials in the disciplines of equine medicine, orthopaedics and surgery.
Interns will be under the direct supervision of 5 European diplomates in the fields of surgery, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging. They will participate in providing medical and surgical clinical services as well as after hours emergency care. Interns rotate between the various departments (surgery, imaging, anaesthesiology, internal medicine and orthopaedics).
Interns will participate actively in the organisation of the hospital. They will also be encouraged to set and meet personal goals such as preparing case reports or scientific presentations.
Starting date: June/July and Sept/Oct
Duration of internship: 12 months. Extension to 18 months possible after evaluation.
- Good basic equine veterinary medicine knowledge and the ability to perform basic equine work independently.
- A good knowledge of English.
- A 1 to 2 week visit to the hospital before we can short-list you for an internship position.
